Job Duties

  • Administers and enforces the Town’s zoning ordinance, subdivision regulations, and land development codes.
  • Reviews development proposals, site plans, plats, rezonings, annexations, and conditional use applications for
  • compliance with town regulations.
  • Provides professional planning recommendations to the Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, and
  • Town Council.
  • Prepares staff reports, ordinances, resolutions, and policy recommendations.
  • Coordinates updates and implementation of the Town’s Comprehensive Plan and other long-range planning
  • initiatives.
  • Manages development review processes and serves as primary contact for developers, engineers, architects, and
  • the public.
  • Assists with economic development and redevelopment initiatives, including downtown revitalization and
  • corridor planning.
  • Coordinates planning efforts with Fairfield County, regional planning agencies, and state agencies.
  • Prepares and administers planning-related grants and special projects.
  • Maintains planning and zoning records, GIS data, and development tracking systems.
  • Conducts research and prepares reports on land use, demographics, infrastructure needs, and growth trends.
  • Responds to citizen inquiries and provides information on zoning, development regulations, and planning
  • processes.
  • Supervises planning staff or consultants as assigned.
  • Performs special projects and other related duties as required.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, City and Regional Planning, Public Administration, Geography, or related field. Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in municipal or regional planning, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must have a valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in planning or related field. AICP (American Institute of Certified Planners) certification or ability to obtain within two years. Experience with South Carolina municipal planning and zoning procedures. Experience with grant writing and project management

Salary Info
$70,000-$90,00 annually based on experience and qualifications. In addition, the town offers comprehensive benefits package.
