Job Duties
- Operates various types of machinery and equipment as assigned to collect and transport garbage and debris including garbage truck, dump truck, and leaf truck. Drives trucks to dump disposals.
- Collects garbage and debris from roadside roll-away containers and deposits garbage and trash in collection trucks, returning container to curb.
- Utilizes various machinery and tools in the performance of duties related to street cleaning, lawn maintenance and/or park maintenance such as weed eaters, riding and/or push lawn mowers, hedge trimmers, clippers, etc.
- Utilizes shovels, rakes, and protective clothing in the performance of garbage collection duties. Uses saws for cutting trees.
- May perform other duties such as planting flowers and shrubbery; uses hole diggers as needed.
- May operate heavy equipment in the performance of garbage and refuse collection such as a backhoe, tractor, chipper truck, etc.
- Cleans and maintains collection vehicles and related equipment.
- Removes dead animals from the side of road. Removes litter from Town streets.
- Interacts and communicates with various individuals involved in the activities of the department such as supervisors, customers, Town employees, etc.
- Ensures safety rules are followed at all times.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent with the ability to learn and apply new skills. Should have the ability to accept responsibility
and must possess a valid S.C. driver’s license.
Salary Info
Salary – $18.00/hour. In addition, the Town offers a comprehensive benefits package.
